On behalf of the Organizing and Scientific Committees we are pleased to invite you to attend the XXIIIrd EUCARPIA Maize and Sorghum Conference. The Conference will be held in Le Corum, Montpellier, France, June 10-11, 2015.

Polymorphism discovery and genotyping have been revolutionized in maize and sorghum over the last five years, yielding new insights in different types of (epi)genetic polymorpshism and evolutionary processes. High density genotyping of suitable populations lead to new insights in the genetics of traits. Drastic reduction of genotyping costs now make it possible to implement genomic selection strategies on a large scale. Breakthrough also have been achieved in phenotyping methods and (eco)physiological modelling, making it possible to better understand the gene to phenotype relationship. The conference will aim at updating with recent advances in these fields and discuss how they can be combined in efficient  breeding strategies to develop next generation of maize and sorgum varieties adapted to new agricultural challenges.   

The conference is jointly organized by the French project AMAIZING supported by ANR and the Maize and Sorghum section of Eucarpia. Invited talks by experts of the topics presented above (see present list of confirmed speakers) will be completed by presentations selected from abstracts. A large place will be devoted to discussion during sessions and a poster session.

The conference will follow a conference on "Recent progress in drought tolerance: from genetics to modelling" jointly organized by the European project DROPS and the sections Cereals, maize and sorghum of Eucarpia, to be held at the same venue June 8 and 9. Finally June 12 am will be devoted to parallel satellite technical sessions / working groups.
