Orléans, France

GlobalSoilMap is the most exciting project in soil science today !
It includes experts from all the corners of the world.
It is supported by the International Union of Soil Sciences and many of the world’s leading research and soil science universities and agencies.
GlobalSoilMap is hosting a conference supported by the GlobalSoilMap consortium and node leaders for those involved in producing data and those interested in being involved in any activity of the project.
A primary focus of this conference is to inform the soil science and cognate communities and widen the participation of interested parties/entities, including :

  • fellow digital soil mappers and soil scientists generally ;
  • end-user ;
  • modellers (hydrological, ecological, climatic, economic, sociological…) ;

in bringing the local information to a global audience to solve some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Potential users of the information from the soil science and wider community are welcome to participate.

Student presentations are encouraged.

ISRIC and IUSS sponsor participants from ODA countries (list available at http://www.oecd.org/dac/stats/daclistofodarecipients.htm ) by covering (part of) their conference fee and accommodation costs. To qualify for the sponsorship participants must make an oral or poster presentation at the conference. The total available budget is €3500 for ISRIC and $2000 for IUSS, which means that not all conference and accommodation costs can be covered when many participants apply. In such a case the budget will be equally distributed among the applicants.
