Conference venue and accommodation

The city of Orléans

The workshop will take place in Orléans, approx. 100 km South of Paris, in the magnificent Loire Valley (website).

The Loire Valley is part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites as a living cultural landscape. It is a most touristic place for its pastoral landscapes, historic villages, great architectural monuments, fine wines and, of course, its many chateaux.

The city of Orléans (website) is famous for celebrating St Joan of Arc, its liberator, every year since 1430. The Orléans Forest, North of the town, covers a surface area of about 50,000 hectares, 35,000 hectares of which are owned by the state, making it the largest state-owned forest in France. South of the town of Orléans, a wild and peaceful area, the Sologne, is covered with game-filled forests and numerous ponds and is therefore popular with hikers, fishermen and hunters.

How to get to the conference venue ?

♦ You are coming by plane and you want to reach the hotel without worrying too much ?

First, most of you will land at Paris Orly or Charles de Gaulle Airports, but you need to know that some companies also land at Beauvais or Tours Airports.

The easiest, fastest and most comfortable way to reach the hotel from any of these 4 airports is to use a collective cab. Many companies offer such service in Orléans. We have contacted several of them to negociate special fares for the Workshop participants. Companies who replied are mentioned below :

This company offers collective/individual shuttle services from/to any of the 4 airports mentionned before but also from/to any train station in Paris.

Prices are below:

Please read carrefully the following information :

  1. Reservations can be made through the company's website or by email.
  2. For those staying at the Portes de Sologne Hotel, dropoff address is 200 Allée des Quatre Vents 45160 Ardon, Centre, France.
  3. Participants who make their booking through the company's website get a 10 € (one way) or 20 € (return) discount using the following promotionnal code : INRA2015 (to be entered at Step 3 on the website)
  4. Sharing a shuttle with other conference participants will allow you to reduce your transfer costs (e.g. 169 € incl VAT for a group of 4 persons from Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport). Groups must be organized by yourself before booking and booking + payment must be made by only one person.
  5. You can choose between two options : the shuttle can be shared with random people (in addition to the people who are travelling with you) - this is the cheapest option but it may imply several stops before your reach the Hotel - or you can ask for a private shuttle for yourself / your group.

♦ Another option: the train (especially for european colleagues who will come to Paris by train)

Going from Paris to Orléans by train is also an option, but the trip is a bit more complicated as you will need:

  1. to reach the train station in Paris using either the Metro or the RER urban train
  2. to take a taxi once you are arrived in Orléans to reach the hotel

There are many direct trains from Paris to Orléans, all departing from the Paris Austerlitz Station. The trip is only 1 h long and the schedules can be found on the SNCF website.

There are 2 possible arrival stations in Orléans. One is named "Orléans" and the other one is named "Les Aubrais - Orléans".

All trains with final destination "Orléans" stop at "Les Aubrais", but not all trains going to "Les Aubrais" stop in "Orléans", so be very careful !!!

*** You can choose any of these two stations depending on train availability, but in both cases you will need to take a taxi to reach the hotel ***

♦ Last option: car rental

You will find all the information that you need to rent a car on the Paris Airport Website.
